Number two, all those people are out there hurting, have lost jobs through no fault of their own, they’ve extended unemployment for 10 weeks. Simply not sufficient… The things that are left to deal with from unemployment to people needing unemployment insurance to the ability to have access to healthcare, the ability to get this treatment for free, et cetera, all of that is something that the public is not going to stand for us not doing. But we’re short on supply…

Experts say things will get worse notwithstanding the vaccine. We’re averaging a death rate of close to 3,000 a day. That means we will lose tens of thousands of more lives in the months to come, and the vaccine won’t be able to stop that.

So we still have to remain vigilant.

CONGRESS/CORONAVIRUS: “Despite all of this wasteful spending, and much more, the $900 billion [coronavirus stimulus] package provides hardworking taxpayers with only $600 each in relief payments, and not enough money is given to small businesses and, in particular, restaurants whose owners have suffered so grievously…

Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries, lobbyists, and special interests, while sending the bare minimum to the American people who need it. It wasn’t their fault, it was China’s fault, not their fault.

I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple. I am also asking Congress to immediately get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill, or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package, and maybe that administration will be me and we will get it done.”

But I need to be honest. The next few weeks and months are going to be a very tough period of time for our nation — maybe the toughest of the entire pandemic. I know that’s hard to hear. But it’s the truth…

We need to follow even more closely the recommendations to slow the spread of the virus.”

CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19/JOE BIDEN/TRUMP ADMIN/VACCINES: “I want to [be] clear about five things every American should know about our efforts to contain COVID-19 and where the [coronavirus] vaccine stands today.

First — things will get worse before they get better…

Second, the Trump administration’s plan to distribute vaccines is falling behind, far behind… A few weeks ago the Trump Administration suggested that 20 million Americans could be vaccinated by the end of December.

With only a few days left in December, we have only vaccinated a few million so far.

At the pace the vaccination program is moving now, it would take years, not months, to vaccinate the American people.

Which brings me to the third thing every American should know: the Biden-Harris Administration will spare no effort to make sure people are getting vaccinated…

And that gets to the fourth thing you should know: I will move Heaven and Earth to get us going in the right direction.

I will use my power under the Defense Production Act to order private industry to accelerate the making of materials needed for the vaccine…

Fifth — while the pandemic rages on and as we increase the supply, distribution, and administration of the vaccine, we must remain vigilant.

As part of our 100-day challenge, I’ll be asking the American people to wear a mask for the first 100 days of my administration.

If Congress provides the funding, we would be able to meet this incredible goal… We will find ways to boost the pace of vaccinations.

But as Dr. Fauci and others have stated these past few days, this will all take more time than anyone would like – and more time than the promises from the Trump administration has suggested.”

CORONAVIRUS: “Millions of people in this country out of work through no fault of their own. No fault of their own. They’re struggling. Many are fearful and many have given up hope. Look at the lines at food banks, hours and hours and hours. This is the United States of America, for God’s sake and there are food lines like we’ve not seen since the depression and they’re getting longer.

Families, children, people who have worked their whole lives and never asked for a thing except a fighting chance, now, they’re lining up for food in America and the debate over $2,000 [in coronavirus relief] isn’t some abstract debate in Washington, it’s about real lives.”

CORONAVIRUS/FEDERAL FUNDING: “Look, the states need help [with coronavirus]. There’s a reason why the Constitution said the federal government could have a deficit spending in times of crisis and states have to balance their budgets. It’s for this very thing. It’s the whole idea, your states have to balance your budgets. So what’s happening? You’re going to see more and more people laid off, more firefighters, police officers, school teachers, first responders, the people we need badly now. The states need more money to do the job. They need to the federal government to work with them, not attack them and leave them out there hanging.”

CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19: “As angry rioters and supporters of President Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol in a last stand for the outgoing president Wednesday [Jan. 6, 2021], the violence overshadowed a deadly day across the nation as the coronavirus pandemic continued its surge.

A record 3,915 people died of covid-19 in the United States, the deadliest day of a pandemic that has claimed more than 360,000 lives across the country. A record 251,646 new coronavirus cases were reported, about 16,000 more cases than the Wednesday before.”

CORONAVIRUS/VACCINE: “Because of the pandemic — horrible, horrible invisible enemy — and despite our tremendous success developing a [coronavirus] vaccine years before it was thought evenly remotely possible. Nobody thought it was going to be possible. They said would take five years. ‘Sir, it will take seven years.’ All of our scientists were saying — our advisors, ‘It will take 7 years, 5 years, 10 years maybe.’ Well, we did it just like I said we would. And we had it out years and years before they thought it was possible. And we’re now delivering it to states, including your state, where your governor and government are doing a terrific job in getting it administered in Texas. And Florida is doing great. Some of them are doing great. Some aren’t doing as well, but they have all they can handle. And we get it to them as fast as they need it, and even faster.

But they’re calling it a ‘medical miracle.’ And this has been a difficult year and a very difficult election. The pandemic has made it a very, very difficult year for our country and virtually every country all over the world.”

CORONAVIRUS/JOE BIDEN/TRUMP ADMIN/VACCINES: “The Trump administration announced sweeping changes to its vaccination rollout on Tuesday [Jan. 12, 2021], including making all of the coronavirus vaccine supply immediately available, urging states to provide shots to anyone 65 and older and warning states with lagging inoculations that they could lose some of their shots to speedier places.

The steps, part of an effort to accelerate a delayed and disjointed rollout, depart from the administration’s original strategy, and come just days after President-elect Joe Biden announced plans to release nearly all the vaccine supply.”

What is needed now is for us to listen to one another, not to silence one another. All of us can choose by our actions to rise above the ranker and find common ground and shared purpose. We must focus on advancing the interests of the whole nation, delivering the miracle [coronavirus] vaccines, defeating the pandemic, rebuilding the economy, protecting our national security and upholding the rule of law.”

CORONAVIRUS: “It’s been three hundred and forty-three days since the [coronavirus] that has ravaged our nation tragically claimed its first life…

Almost exactly one year later, nearly 400,000 of our fellow Americans have met the same cruel fate. Countless families and friends left behind, with unrelenting grief and guilt, anger and frustration. And the emptiness felt by the loss of life is compounded by the loss of our way of life…

A crisis of deep human suffering in plain sight.

And there is no time to wait.

Tomorrow, I will lay out our vaccination plan to correct course and meet our goal of 100 million shots by the end of our first 100 days.

This will be one of the most challenging operational efforts we have ever undertaken as a nation.

We will move Heaven and Earth to get more people vaccinated, to create more places for them to get vaccinated, to mobilize more medical teams to get shots in peoples’ arms, and to increase vaccine supply and get it out the door as fast as possible.”

We will finish the job of getting a total of $2,000 in direct relief to people who need it the most.

$600 is simply not enough if you still have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table…

We will also provide more peace of mind for struggling families by extending unemployment insurance benefits for millions of workers.

That means that the 18 million Americans currently relying on unemployment benefits
while they look for work can count on these checks continuing to be there. Plus, there will be a $400 per week supplement to help make ends meet.”

What they do know is there are tens of millions of doses of [coronavirus] vaccines sitting unused in a freezer, while people who want and need the vaccine can’t get it.

We’ll fix the problem by encouraging states to allow more people to get vaccinated beyond health care workers and move through these groups as quickly as states think they can.

CORONAVIRUS/IMPEACHMENT/JOE BIDEN: “The inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States is going to look vastly different than those of his predecessors, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and heightened security concerns after a mob of pro-Trump extremists violently breached the U.S. Capitol two weeks ago.

There will be no throngs of people massed beneath a platform at the Capitol. Also absent will be President Trump, who’s skipping town early…

Trump, who was impeached by the House of Representatives last week for inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol while lawmakers worked to certify Biden’s election victory, is breaking with 150 years of tradition by not joining Biden at the event. It’s customary for an outgoing president and other former presidents to sit behind a new president, symbolizing the peaceful transfer of power.

Biden called Trump’s decision not to attend ‘one of the few things he and I have ever agreed on.'”

The running total of lives lost, as compiled by Johns Hopkins University, is nearly equal to the number of Americans killed in World II…

‘So just a goodbye. We love you,’ Trump told supporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland where he walked across a red carpet and boarded Air Force One to head to Florida. ‘We will be back in some form.’…

Speaking without notes, Trump said his presidency was an ‘incredible four years.’…

‘It’s been something very special. We’ve accomplished a lot,’ Trump said, citing the installation of conservative judges, creation of the space force, development of coronavirus vaccines and management of a robust pre-pandemic economy. ‘I hope they don’t raise your taxes, but if they do, I told you so,’ he said of the Biden administration…

‘I will always fight for you,’ he told the crowd. ‘I will be watching. I will be listening.'”

Remember us because I’m looking at elements of our economy that are set to be a rocket ship up. It’s a rocket ship up. We have the greatest country in the world. We have the greatest economy in the world. And as bad as the pandemic was, we were hit so hard just like the entire world was hit so hard. Places that thought they got away with it, didn’t get away with it. They’re suffering right now.”

We have two out, we have another one coming almost immediately, and it really is a great achievement…

And I can only say this. We have worked hard. We’ve left it all, as the athletes would say, we’ve left it all on the field. We don’t have to come and say— We’ll never say in a month, when we’re sitting in Florida, we’re not going to be looking at each other and saying, ‘You know, if we only worked a little bit harder.’ You can’t work harder.”

CORONAVIRUS/RACISM/TERRORISM: “We will press forward with speed and urgency, for we have much to do in this winter of peril and possibility…

Few periods in our nation’s history have been more challenging or difficult than the one we’re in now. A once-in-a-century virus silently stalks the country. It’s taken as many lives in one year as America lost in all of World War II. Millions of jobs have been lost. Hundreds of thousands of businesses closed.

A cry for racial justice some 400 years in the making moves us. The dream of justice for all will be deferred no longer.

A cry for survival comes from the planet itself. A cry that can’t be any more desperate or any more clear.

And now, a rise in political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism that we must confront and we will defeat.

To overcome these challenges – to restore the soul and to secure the future of America – requires more than words.

It requires that most elusive of things in a democracy: Unity.”

CORONAVIRUS/TRUMP’S HEALTH: “Then-President Trump was sicker than previously reported when he was rushed to Walter Reed Hospital for treatment for the coronavirus last fall, The New York Times reported Thursday [Feb. 11, 2021].

At the time of his hospitalization, Trump had severely depressed blood oxygen levels and officials were concerned he would have to be placed on a ventilator, according to the Times, citing two people familiar with his condition. He was determined to have lung infiltrates, or substances such as fluid or bacteria inflaming the lungs.

Trump was previously reported to be struggling to breathe and running a fever Oct. 2, when he was taken to the hospital. The then-president had participated in the first presidential debate two days before his diagnosis was made public, and it remains unclear whether he had transmitted the virus by that point.”
