CHILDREN/CORONAVIRUS/EDUCATION: “Children often have only mild symptoms, and medical complications are incredibly rare — very, very, very rare. Those that do face complications often have underlying medical conditions. In each of the last five years, the flu resulted in more deaths of those under 18 in the United States than have been lost thus far to coronavirus, by far. The flu — the flu does kill young people.

Given these considerations, we believe many school districts can now reopen safely, provided they implement mitigation measures and health protocols to protect families, protect teachers, and protect students. All families should be empowered to make the decision that is right for their own circumstances.”
