GOP/JUSTICE DEPARTMENT/OBAMACARE/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump declared Tuesday [3-26-19] that his Republican Party ‘will soon be known as the party of health care,’ doubling down on his administration’s most recent legal efforts to undo the Affordable Care Act…Ahead of his remarks on Capitol Hill, Trump expressed a similar sentiment on Twitter, writing in an online post that ‘the Republican Party will become ‘The Party of Healthcare!’ The Justice Department late Monday [3-25-19] announced its approval of a federal court ruling that would eliminate Obamacare, which facilitates health insurance for 20 million Americans, in its entirety. Democratic lawmakers, fresh off the news from special counsel Robert Mueller that the Trump campaign did not collude with the Russian government in 2016, have seized on the the White House’s fresh assault on Obamacare, shifting their attention from Mueller-related attacks against the GOP to healthcare. Before Trump’s newfound focus on healthcare on Tuesday, the White House had enjoyed a multi-day victory lap of sorts, crowing that the president’s ‘no collusion’ claims had been vindicated and slamming the media and Democrats alike for their attention to the Mueller probe. Democrats appeared eager Tuesday to quickly shift gears to healthcare, an issue they rode heavily in last year’s midterm elections to seize control of the House of Representatives.”
