BORDER/CHILDREN/DEMS/IMMIGRATION/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “House Democrats are laying the groundwork to subpoena the Trump administration for a trove of documents relating to its controversial migrant family separation policy at the border, according to several sources familiar with the matter. The House Oversight Committee will vote next Tuesday to authorize three subpoenas for the departments of Homeland Security, Justice, and Health and Human Services, teeing up the first subpoena of the panel’s new Democratic majority. Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), who had requested detailed information from the trio of agencies on the family separation issue, notified ranking member Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) of his subpoena plans. But Jordan objected, so Cummings agreed to allow the full committee vote on the subpoenas, which are expected to be approved. GOP sources said the agencies have in fact been complying with Cummings’ requests but have been constrained from turning over everything more quickly because of privacy issues and other constraints.”
