HILLARY CLINTON/RUSSIA/SANCTIONS/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TRUMP PEOPLE: “Documents released Wednesday [5-16-18] shed new light on how a group of Russians promised associates of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign incriminating information on Hillary Clinton but instead presented their case for rolling back a U.S. sanctions law targeting Russian human-rights abusers. Testimony by those who attended a June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower suggests the Russians pressed the aides on the sanctions but offered little compromising material on Mrs. Clinton, instead urging the Trump aides to do their own research. After Mr. Trump’s election, the same Russians pushed for more access to top officials in Mr. Trump’s orbit. During the meeting at Trump Tower, Donald Trump Jr. asked the visitors whether they had the information on Mr. Trump’s Democratic rival, according to testimony from one of the participants. The Russians rebuffed him, and launched into a discussion of the 2012 Magnitsky Act, the U.S. law that is a central foreign-policy concern for Moscow. The new details from the Trump Tower meeting were revealed in thousands of pages of testimony, statements and notes from eight people who attended it, released Wednesday by the Senate Judiciary Committee.”
