2016 ELECTION/GOP/ROBERT MUELLER/RUSSIA/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “Republican congressional leaders said Tuesday [3-20-18] that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into meddling by Russia in the U.S. election should be allowed to continue unimpeded, after stepped-up attacks from President Donald Trump raised concerns he would move to end the probe.
‘The special counsel should be free to follow through his investigation to its completion without interference,’ House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) told reporters…
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky) said the special counsel ‘should be allowed to finish his job’ and defended his work… Both lawmakers declined to outline any steps that Congress might take if Mr. Trump took any action to end the investigation.”
