GOP/HEALTHCARE/OBAMACARE(ACA)/POLITICS/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump said he expects to see passage of the Senate Republican’s health care bill as negotiations proceed with the GOP lawmakers who have withheld support.
‘We have a few people that…want to get some points; I think they’ll get some points,’ Mr. Trump said during a Fox News interview aired Sunday [6-25-17].
Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Dean Heller of Nevada have said they won’t vote for the bill in its current form.
Messrs. Cruz, Johnson, Lee and Paul said Thursday after the Senate Republican leadership unveiled their bill aimed at repealing much of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, that it didn’t go far enough, though they also said they were open to negotiation. Mr. Heller said Friday he couldn’t support it because it would take away insurance from millions of Americans.
There is ‘a very narrow path’ to passing a health care bill and ‘nobody can be totally happy,’ Mr. Trump said. ‘Health care is a very, very tough thing to get but I think we’re going to get it.’ “
