CONGRESS/MICHAEL COHEN/RUDY GIULIANI/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump said Thursday [1-24-19] it was sad that his former personal attorney is trying to to delay his public testimony to Congress, calling it ‘so interesting’ that Michael Cohen’s legal counsel has strong ties to Trump’s 2016 opponent. Cohen, who has pleaded guilty to violations tied to his campaign-related work and other business ventures, pulled out of his agreement to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Feb. 7 because of what Cohen’s lawyer said was fear for his family’s safety after receiving threats from Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani. The pair have openly called for an investigation into Cohen’s father-in-law, and Trump has derided his former fixer for cooperating with investigators and potentially implicating Trump in campaign finance violations. The attacks have prompted accusations that the two men are trying to intimidate Cohen into silence.”
