The president’s name was barely uttered, despite the fact Republican Rep. Tom MacArthur is Trump’s biggest ally in the New Jersey delegation, and Democrat Andy Kim’s candidacy has been boosted by the wave of anti-Trump anger that’s swept the state’s suburbs…MacArthur’s association with Trump has been front and center for the last two years. He authored the amendment that nearly saved the president’s attempt to repeal Obamacare and was the only member of the New Jersey delegation to vote for the Trump tax law. Trump, for his part, has headlined a fundraiser for MacArthur that raised almost $1 million. But despite MacArthur’s deep pockets and ties to Trump, Kim has consistently outraised him in campaign cash.
