BRETT KAVANAUGH/PROTESTS/SEX ABUSE/SUPREME COURT/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/WOMEN: “President Trump on Friday [10-5-18] assailed the women who protested his embattled Supreme Court nominee by confronting senators in elevators, claiming that they had been paid and were only trying to make the lawmakers ‘look bad.’ Two women approached Senator Jeff Flake, Republican of Arizona, inside an elevator last week and shared their stories of being sexually assaulted as they asked him not to support the nominee, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh. Other women confronted Senator Orrin G. Hatch, Republican of Utah, outside an elevator on Thursday [10-4-18], and he waved them off and told them to grow up…Kathy Beynette, one of the women who confronted Mr. Hatch, criticized Mr. Trump in an interview on Friday for singling out women like her who were only ‘trying to be heard’…The president’s tweet came hours before the Senate narrowly voted to end debate on Judge Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault and misconduct. Those allegations have prompted an outcry and multiple demonstrations, including on Thursday, when thousands of protesters, most of them female, gathered in the capital. A final vote on the nomination could come as soon as Saturday.”
