DEMS/JUSTICE DEPARTMENT/ROBERT MUELLER/RUSSIA/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “A dozen Russian intelligence officials were charged Friday [7-13-18] with hacking into the Democratic National Committee and the campaign of the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, and distributing stolen emails, according to an indictment obtained by special counsel Robert Mueller’s office. The officers spear-phished volunteers and employees of the Clinton campaign, obtained log-in credentials, and used them to secretly monitor the computer activity of ‘dozens of employees,’ the Justice Department said. Spear-phishing means sending emails purporting to be from a known or trusted sender. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the charges at a press conference Friday, saying ‘the internet allows foreign adversaries to attack America in new and unexpected ways.’ Mr. Mueller’s office has filed cases against 20 people and three companies to date and obtained five guilty pleas, including from President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn. Mr. Flynn pleaded guilty last year to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his communications with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.”
