NATIONAL SECURITY/RUSSIA/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump said Wednesday [6-27-18] he will ‘most likely’ meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in a summit next month in Europe. The president is scheduled to attend a North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit next month in Brussels and is also planning to visit the U.K. He met twice with Mr. Putin last year on the sidelines of international conferences, but has yet to take part in a formal summit meeting with the Russian leader. ‘I said it from Day One: Getting along with Russia and China and with everybody is a very good thing,’ Mr. Trump said. ‘It’s good for the world, it’s good for the U.S. It’s good for everybody.’ Mr. Trump’s remark came soon after his national security adviser, John Bolton, met with Mr. Putin in Moscow at Mr. Trump’s request to broker a meeting between the two leaders. Mr. Trump said midafternoon at the White House that he would know the exact location of the planned summit meeting later in the day. Asked what he hopes would come of the meeting, he said he expected the two would talk about Syria and Ukraine, among other subjects. He didn’t respond to a question about whether he would raise the issue of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.”
