BORDER/IMMIGRATION/LEGAL/MICHAEL COHEN/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TRUMP PEOPLE: “Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former longtime lawyer, resigned from his post as national deputy finance chairman at the Republican National Committee Wednesday [6-20-18], according to an RNC official, saying the investigations into his contacts with Russia and his business dealings were proving too great a distraction. In a letter to RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel, Mr. Cohen wrote: ‘This important role requires the full time, attention and dedication of each member.’ Referring to the continuing investigations, he said: ‘That simply is impossible for me to do.’ Mr. Cohen also criticized the Trump administration’s policy separating immigrant families at the southern border. Mr. Trump said Wednesday he would sign an order to ‘keep families together…’ An RNC official said Ms. McDaniel had accepted Mr. Cohen’s resignation and said he had been ‘inactive on the committee for several months.’ Mr. Trump said last week that Mr. Cohen was no longer serving as his lawyer.”
