2016 ELECTION/LEGAL/RUSSIA/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TRUMP PEOPLE: “Ty Cobb, the top White House lawyer representing President Donald Trump in the Russia investigation, is leaving his role at the end of the month, the White House said Wednesday [5-2-18]. Mr. Cobb will be replaced on the legal team by Emmet Flood, according to a person familiar with the move. Earlier in his career, Mr. Flood represented then-President Bill Clinton during his late-90s impeachment proceedings. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that Mr. Cobb had been discussing retirement for ‘several weeks’ and told chief of staff John Kelly he would leave his role at the end of the month. Mr. Cobb, a former federal prosecutor, has served in his role since last summer. His departure marks the latest reshuffle of the president’s legal team in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of whether Trump associates colluded with Russia in the 2016 U.S. election. Mr. Trump has denied collusion and Moscow has denied election meddling.”
