ETHICS/GOP/TEXAS: “Rep. Blake Farenthold, who has faced allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior from former staff members, will not seek reelection, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The Texas Republican’s office did not respond to a request for comment Thursday [12-14-17], but the news comes after the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into the harassment allegations and as former staff members have begun speaking out about his conduct.
Farenthold spoke with House Speaker Paul Ryan twice on Wednesday and met with National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers, according to GOP sources familiar with the conversations.
Asked at a news conference Thursday whether Farenthold should resign immediately, Ryan demurred…
The 55-year-old married congressman, who was first elected in 2010, denied the accusations.”
