FBI/JUSTICE DEPARTMENT/LEGAL/ROBERT MUELLER/RUSSIA: “Two U.S. senators wrote to the Justice Department’s inspector general on Wednesday [12-6-17] requesting more information about the FBI agent who was removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team over private text messages he allegedly sent during the election that were critical of President Donald Trump.
Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) asked the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, to answer a series of questions about Peter Strzok, a top counterintelligence agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Strzok led the probe into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and later joined Mr. Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mr. Strzok was removed by Mr. Mueller last summer after the special counsel’s office learned due to an inquiry by the inspector general that during the election Mr. Strzok had sent text messages allegedly critical of Mr. Trump to a fellow FBI employee, lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was romantically involved. Ms. Page was detailed briefly to Mr. Mueller’s team but left before the special counsel’s office learned of the messages…
Neither Mr. Strzok nor Ms. Page could be reached for comment.”
