GOP/HEALTHCARE/OBAMACARE(ACA): “Senate Republican leadership on Thursday [7-13-17] released revised legislation that would topple major parts of the Affordable Care Act, impose steep cuts on Medicaid, and allow insurers to sell cheaper plans that don’t meet the current law’s regulations.
The revisions to the health bill unveiled last month aim to bridge a yawning divide between conservative Republican senators who have resumed calls for a full repeal of the ACA and centrist GOP lawmakers concerned that deep cuts to Medicaid would strip coverage from millions of people.
At least 10 Senators opposed an earlier version of the bill last month in a party revolt and pressure has mounted on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) to pass the legislation. Growing pessimism due to GOP feuding over the bill prompted President Donald Trump on Wednesday to warn he’d be ‘very angry’ if a bill doesn’t get to his desk.
The Senate is likely to hold a vote on the legislation next week that will determine whether Republicans can deliver on their seven-year promise to repeal the ACA.”
