INTELLIGENCE/RUSSIA/TRUMP PEOPLE/PAUL MANAFORT: “Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman has agreed to an interview with the House committee probing alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Paul Manafort, who served as Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman and ran the day-to-day operations of the campaign for about five months, agreed through an attorney to speak with the House Intelligence Committee, the panel’s chairman announced Friday.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), the intelligence committee chairman, said Mr. Manafort’s attorney contacted the committee Thursday with the offer.
‘We thank Mr. Manafort for volunteering,’ said Mr. Nunes, adding that other witnesses who may have information relevant to the probe were encouraged to come forward as well. Mr. Nunes said that the format of the interview hadn’t been decided and that it is up to Mr. Manafort whether he would like to testify publicly or behind closed doors with committee members and staff.”
