EDUCATION/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “The total number of foreign college students in the United States grew at a sluggish pace during the 2018-2019 academic year, as fewer new international pupils started classes and enrollment from China saw slim gains under the Trump administration, new data out Monday [11-18-19] indicated. The number of international undergraduate and graduate students actually declined, with a tiny overall enrollment increase driven by programs that allow international students to train in the U.S. following their studies. One official described those Optional Practical Training programs as ‘one of our greatest strengths.’ More than 1 million international students — 57 percent of them from China, India or South Korea — still studied in U.S. colleges and universities in the last school term, according to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.”
