DEMS/SUPREME COURT/TRUMP TAXES: “President Donald Trump’s lawyers took the fight over access to his tax returns to the Supreme Court on Thursday [11-14-19] in a last-ditch bid to keep his financial records secret while simultaneously fighting Democrats over impeachment. It’s the president’s first tax-related petition to the Supreme Court in a case that revolves around a decision by a New York-based federal appeals court last week requiring Trump to turn over his tax returns to a grand jury in Manhattan overseen by District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr…Sekulow also said he planned to file a separate request to the Supreme Court on Friday asking the justices to issue a stay on a ruling on a similar matter by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. On Wednesday [11-13-19] evening the court declined to grant Trump a full-bench hearing on a 2-1 decision a panel of that court issued upholding a subpoena from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee demanding a broad set of Trump’s financial records.”
