John McCain, with whom the president maintained a bitter feud…Following the Arizona Republican’s death in August, Trump tweeted a quick message without mentioning the senator’s service in Congress or the military: ‘My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!’ Though Trump ordered flags lowered following McCain’s death, they were raised again only two days later, garnering fierce criticism from both sides of the aisle.”
