BORDER/DEMS/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Trump did walk out of a negotiation session on Wednesday [1-19-19], but he said he didn’t slam any tables. Trump on Thursday [1-10-19] denied suggestions from congressional Democratic leaders that he had a ‘temper tantrum’ and hand-slammed the table on his way out the door…The New York Democrat had made his assertions about Trump’s behavior after the Wednesday talks, saying the president had ‘sort of slammed the table’ and had called the meeting a ‘waste of time.’ Later, on Wednesday night, Schumer tweeted to Trump: ‘Stop throwing a temper tantrum and re-open the government. You’re hurting American workers and their families.’ The fate of talks to end the shutdown, which entered its 20th day on Thursday, remains uncertain as Trump heads to the Texas border to promote his wall.”
