ELECTION/GOP/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump is daring other Republicans to run against him in 2020, saying they’re not likely to unseat him because of strong support from his base. During an interview on Thursday [12-13-18], Fox News’ Harris Faulkner asked the president about possible primary opponents in the 2020 election, including the outgoing governor of Ohio, John Kasich, and Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who is retiring…Both Kasich and Flake have floated the idea of running against the president to be the 2020 Republican nominee. At least 20 Democrats are also testing the waters to run in the presidential election. Last month, Kasich told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he was ‘very seriously’ considering a bid, adding that ‘we need different leadership, there isn’t any question about it.’ The Ohio Republican’s term ends in January. Flake last month also said that he had not ruled out running in 2020.”
