CHINA/TARIFFS/TRADE DEALS/TRUMP PEOPLE: “Larry Kudlow says he has made significant progress pushing a free-trade message inside President Donald Trump’s White House with a new trade deal between the United States, Canada and Mexico and potentially one with the European Union. But Kudlow, director of the National Economic Council, recognizes that Trump still may go through with new and higher tariffs on China — and there’s not much he can do to stop it. ‘If the president is going to apply tariffs, let’s say on China, he’s going to do it. And you know, it might not be my first choice, but you know what? The Chinese have been so intransigent,’ Kudlow said in an interview conducted just after the midterm elections and featured on this week’s POLITICO Money podcast.”
