BRITAIN/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump will aim to ‘strengthen and nurture’ the U.S. relationship with Britain in his visit to London next week, during which the leaders are expected to discuss national security issues and a possible bilateral trade deal, a U.S. official said Friday [7-6-18]. ‘The president knows this country probably better than any president in recent history,’ Ambassador Woody Johnson told reporters in a briefing call Friday [7-6-18]. He praised the relationship between the two nations and said it was ‘as strong now as it has ever been.’ Mr. Trump will travel to London on Thursday [7-12-18] after leaving the two-day North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Brussels…Mr. Trump, who has canceled previous discussions about a visit to the U.K. amid concerns about the level of protesters in London, is expected to primarily travel by helicopter, rather than a motorcade. Mr. Johnson said the president would ‘use various modes of transportation’ but that traveling to the planned sites ‘is going to require being in the air for part of it.’ Among the forms of protest: A balloon depicting Mr. Trump as a baby wearing a diaper is expected to be flown over London while he is visiting.”
