POLLS/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “When asked if registered voters think Donald Trump deserves to be re-elected as President or if it’s time to give a new person a chance, around 55% in Arizona, Florida and Arizona say they would rather look to a new candidate, according to series of new NBC News polls conducted by Marist. Around a third in each state say the President deserves to be re-elected. The smallest majority is in Florida, where 54% of registered voters say they want to give a new person a chance. In Arizona, that number is slightly higher, at 57%, and in Ohio, 58% said they want to try out someone else. Trump won all three states in 2016 — by as little as 1 point in Florida and 8 points in Ohio. In Arizona and Florida, the President won 49% of the vote, and he triumphed in Ohio with 52%. While there’s a clear partisan split — with Democrats in all three states at 90% or higher in saying they’d prefer a new person — Republicans are less unanimous, and independents are against re-electing Trump. In Arizona and Ohio, Republicans said Trump deserves to be elected at 68%. Floridians were more supportive, at 74%. It makes sense that Florida’s Republican numbers are slightly higher than the others, as Trump’s approval rating there is better. Registered voters in Florida approve of the job the President is doing by 45% — compared with 41% in Arizona and 42% in Ohio.”
