JAMES COMEY/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TWITTER: “James B. Comey’s searing, tell-all book touched off a forceful attack on the former F.B.I. director’s character by President Trump and his allies on Friday [4-13-18], even as many Democrats struggled with conflicted feelings about the man they blame for Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 election. Pointed and salacious details from Mr. Comey’s book, ‘A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,’ leaked out Thursday [4-12-18] night ahead of the book’s official release on Tuesday [4-17-18]. In it, Mr. Comey denounces the president as ‘unethical, and untethered to truth,’ and describes an unproved scene of Mr. Trump with prostitutes. The response from the president was blunt, even by Mr. Trump’s aggressive Twitter standards. In two early-morning tweets, the president called his former F.B.I. director an ‘untruthful slime ball’ and a proven LEAKER & LIAR.’ Mr. Trump said that it was ‘my great honor to fire’ Mr. Comey.”
