GUNS/SECRET SERVICE: “A man fatally shot himself outside the White House on Saturday [3-3-18], the U.S. Secret Service said. … President Donald Trump wasn’t at the White House when the man shot himself. Mr. Trump spent the morning golfing in Florida, where he is staying at his Mar-a-Lago resort. He is set to return to Washington on Saturday evening for the annual Gridiron Dinner, an event hosted by an association of Washington reporters. Before leaving Florida, he addressed wealthy donors convened at Mar-a-Lago for a fundraiser benefiting the Republican Party and his re-election campaign. … Last month, the Secret Service apprehended a woman who drove a passenger vehicle into a security barrier near the White House. The vehicle didn’t breach the barrier near the White House complex, and no shots were fired in the incident, the Secret Service said at the time.’ White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said the president had been briefed on the incident. He referred further questions to the Secret Service.”
