FEDERAL RESERVE: “Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s first congressional testimony as the central bank’s new leader has been moved to Tuesday from Wednesday, a House panel announced Friday [2-23-18].
Mr. Powell is set to deliver his semiannual monetary policy testimony to the House Financial Services Committee Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET. The hearing had originally been scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Mr. Powell is also scheduled to deliver his second day of testimony before the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday. A spokeswoman for that committee wasn’t immediately available to confirm whether that hearing would proceed as scheduled.
The Fed chairman testifies before Congress twice a year in what are known as the Humphrey-Hawkins hearings, a reference to the 1978 law that requires them. The hearings are typically scheduled back-to-back over two days.”
