POLITICAL FIGURES: “The top Democrat in the House of Representatives called for embattled Rep. John Conyers to step down after sexual harassment allegations were leveled at the Michigan Democrat.
Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Thursday [11-30-17] that the allegations against Mr. Conyers were ‘serious, credible and very disappointing.’ She said that the ‘brave women who came forward are owed justice.’
Mr. Conyers, who has served for more than 50 years in Congress, denies any wrongdoing after several women accused him. A spokesman told Detroit media that he was resting in the hospital this week from stress-related complaints.
The shift marks a reversal for Ms. Pelosi, who appeared on NBC Sunday and defended allowing the congressional ethics process to investigate the charges into Mr. Conyers.”
