FEDERAL RESERVE: “Federal Reserve governor Jerome Powell had regular meetings with an array of Wall Street executives after taking on new responsibilities this year as the Fed’s point person on bank regulation.
Mr. Powell, who has been nominated by President Donald Trump to succeed Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen when her term expires in February, also met regularly with counterparts at foreign central banks and lawmakers on Capitol Hill who sit on committees overseeing the Fed’s activities.
Mr. Powell’s daily schedule from January through September was released by the Fed in response to media inquiries.
The schedule covers a period in which Mr. Powell emerged as a top candidate for Fed chairman, and in which he took over the regulatory oversight role previously filled by governor Daniel Tarullo, who left the central bank in April. Those responsibilities have since moved to Randal Quarles, who was confirmed last month as the bank’s vice chairman for supervision…
Fed staffers, board members and reserve bank presidents who Mr. Powell met with aren’t identified by name. Outside of those meetings, the daily schedules show Mr. Powell met or spoke most frequently with fellow bank regulators at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.”
