2016 ELECTION/CAMPAIGN/INTELLIGENCE/RUSSIA/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee rejected Republican efforts to discredit a raw-intelligence document compiled on Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, saying that its allegations that Russia sought to help elect Mr. Trump ‘turned out to be true.’
In a Wall Street Journal interview Wednesday [11-15-17], Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) said that much of the 35-page dossier, compiled by ex-British intelligence official Christopher Steele, is about Russian efforts to boost Mr. Trump, which U.S. intelligence agencies later affirmed in a report…
Many Republicans have called the dossier a political smear against the president and have cast doubt on the validity of its conclusions.
Several key facts in the dossier have been strongly disputed by the people named in it, while others remain unverified. Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, who is mentioned repeatedly in Mr. Steele’s reports, testified under oath this month in front of the House Intelligence Committee that ‘every word in that about me is completely false.’
Trump Organization attorney Michael Cohen said it was ‘riddled with total falsehoods’ and released photos of the inside of his passport to rebut the dossier’s claim that he traveled to Prague to meet with Russians.”
