Democratic leaders and members of the Clinton campaign rejected Ms. Brazile’s claims, noting that she lacked the power to replace a presidential nominee under the party’s rules. On Saturday [11-4-17], 120 members of the Clinton campaign signed an open letter criticizing Ms. Brazile’s assertions, saying ‘it is particularly troubling and puzzling that she would buy into false Russian-fueled propaganda, spread by both the Russians and our opponent, about our candidate’s health.’…
The back-and-forth between high-profile Democrats comes at a crucial juncture for the party as it attempts to rebound from the 2016 election, with gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey set to take place on Tuesday. Polls have tightened in the Virginia race in particular, with Republican nominee Ed Gillespie gaining on Democrat Ralph Northam.
Party leaders and activists are hoping for wins on Tuesday in order to provide fresh momentum going into next year’s congressional midterm races.”
