MIKE PENCE/MILITARY: “Members of a military detail assigned to Vice President Mike Pence’s communications team have been removed for bringing women back to a hotel during a trip to Latin America, U.S. defense officials told NBC.
Senior Army and Air Force members were caught on surveillance camera bringing unregistered women into the secure area, the officials said.
After Pence’s staff learned about the video, the servicemembers were ordered back to the U.S. and removed from their duties protecting the vice president’s communication team…
It remains unclear whether the incident took place in Colombia or Panama, and officials said there were no indications the women were prostitutes.
Pence, who visited Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Panama earlier this month, had not yet departed from the U.S. when the slip-up occurred, a White House official told NBC.
Pence is known for maintaining strict boundaries with members of the opposite sex, and refuses to dine alone with women or attend social functions without his wife if alcohol is served.
This isn’t the first time Pence has run into problems with his security detail. A Secret Service agent assigned to the vice president was suspended after allegedly meeting a prostitute in a Maryland hotel in April, it was reported.”
