RACISM/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TRUMP PEOPLE: “The White House pulled the plug Thursday [8-17-17] on a planned council that was to advise President Donald Trump on rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, acknowledging that the proposed members would come under pressure not to participate because of the controversy surrounding the president’s remarks amid the Charlottesville furor.
‘The President’s Advisory Council on Infrastructure, which was still being formed, will not move forward,’ a White House official said Thursday.
The administration abandoned the idea of the council one day after two other groups of business leaders disbanded, as CEOs of some of the country’s largest companies quit over Mr. Trump’s reaction to a white supremacist rally in Virginia.
The infrastructure panel had not yet begun work. The White House announced in January that it would be led by a pair of real-estate developers close to Mr. Trump, Steven Roth and Richard LeFrak.
An order formally establishing the council wasn’t released until July 19, and the White House had not yet released a full list of members. The White House official said that work continues on Mr. Trump’s plans for a major infrastructure package. The administration says it hopes to send ‘principles’ to guide the creation of an infrastructure bill to Congress some time this fall.”
