INTELLIGENCE/PAUL MANAFORT/ROBERT MUELLER/RUSSIA: “Investigators for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, recently searched a home of President Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, for tax documents and foreign banking records, according to a person briefed on the matter.
Officials did not disclose where the search warrant was carried out. Mr. Manafort has homes in Virginia, Florida, New York City and the Hamptons.
Mr. Mueller is investigating an array of allegations about Mr. Manafort, including his work for the Ukrainian government and his role in a 2016 meeting between Trump campaign officials and Russians promising to share damaging information on Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Manafort’s spokesman confirmed that an F.B.I. raid had been carried out…
The search was carried out shortly after Mr. Manafort met with investigators for the Senate Intelligence Committee on July 25. In that meeting, Mr. Manafort answered questions and provided investigators with notes about that 2016 meeting with the Russians.
The F.B.I. typically seeks such records when investigating violations of the federal Bank Secrecy Act, which requires Americans to report their foreign banking accounts.”
