FOREIGN POLICY/FRANCE: “President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the Bastille Day parade here next month, Mr. Macron’s office said Wednesday [6-18-17].
Mr. Trump has already met Mr. Macron twice since the French president took office last month, in encounters notable for awkward handshakes between the two men and skirmishes over climate change policy.
The parade, scheduled for July 14, is part of a ceremony commemorating the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War I, Mr. Macron’s office said. The date also marks the first anniversary of the Nice terror attack, when a radicalized Tunisian man plowed a truck through throngs of Bastille Day revelers on the French Riviera, killing 86.”
