FBI/JAMES COMEY/LEAKS/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT: “President Donald Trump on Friday [5-12-17] warned former FBI Director James Comey not to leak information to the news media while dismissing criticism that his aides gave contradictory accounts of how the White House handled Mr. Comey’s firing.
‘James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!’ he wrote on Twitter.
Mr. Trump has said that Mr. Comey told him three times—once at a dinner and twice over the phone—that he wasn’t under investigation. Close associates of Mr. Comey have said that he didn’t provide such assurances.
Mr. Trump also defended the statements of White House officials, and threatened to cancel the century-old policy of daily White House press briefings if criticism of their accuracy continues…
In recent days, White House press spokesmen have given accounts of Mr. Trump’s firing Mr. James Comey that were later contradicted by the president himself.”
