LEGAL/TORTURE/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/TRUMP PEOPLE/NEIL GORSUCH: “Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has suggested that President Trump ‘may get impeached’ if he tries to reauthorize waterboarding, reports the Washington Post.
During a hearing for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, Graham asked Gorsuch in reference to Trump, “You have said several times he is not above the law as president, is that correct?
After Gorsuch agreed, the senator also got him to admit that waterboarding is prevented under the Detainee Treatment Act.
Graham then suggested that Trump may actually be watching the hearing and seemed to address him directly, saying, ‘If you start waterboarding people, you may get impeached.’
Trump has said multiple times in the past that he believes waterboarding works as a method of interrogation.
He has also been quoted as telling Fox News, ‘… torture is real torture, OK? Waterboarding is — I’m sure it’s not pleasant, but waterboarding was just short of torture.’ “
