HEALTHCARE/MINORITIES/PHARMA/POLITICS/ELIJAH CUMMINGS: “Rep. Elijah Cummings said Wednesday [3-8-17] that he used a meeting with President Donald Trump on prescription drug prices to deliver an additional message: don’t speak about America’s black communities like they’re all in crisis…
‘I said to him,*Mr. President, most respectfully, when you’re talking about the African-American community, I want you to realize that all African-American communities are not places of depression and where people are being harmed,* ‘ Mr. Cummings said Wednesday afternoon outside the West Wing, where he and Rep. Peter Welch (D., Vt.), met with Mr. Trump to present their proposal to allow the Medicare system to negotiate prescription drug prices more aggressively.
‘I let him know I’ve been living in the inner city of Baltimore for some 35 years in the same house, and I think it would be good for him to acknowledge that most African-American people are doing very, very well,’ Mr. Cummings said.”
