BUSINESS/CONFLICT OF INTEREST/SHERI DILLION: During the press conference President-Elect Trump's lawyer, Sheri Dillion, stated, "These people are wrong. This is not with the Constitution says. Paying for a hotel room is not a gift or a present, and has nothing to do with an office. It’s not an emolument. The Constitution does not require President-elect Trump to do anything here. But, just like with conflicts of interest, he wants to do more than what the Constitution requires. The law on this is unclear. There is almost no precedent on it. Regardless, it appears Trump’s team thought it was squishy enough that they wanted to take steps — that some will see as not enough — to clear up any potential problems that could arise from foreign dignitaries staying in his hotel. So President-elect Trump has decided — and we are announcing today — that he is going to voluntarily donate all profits from foreign government payments made to his hotels to the United States Treasury."
