BORDER/TRUMP AS PRESIDENT/WALL: “President Donald Trump on Thursday [1-10-19] canceled his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, citing the ‘safety of our nation’ as he continues to push for border wall funding that has ignited a partial government shutdown…The president remains at odds with Congressional Democrats over appropriations for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, signaling that the government shutdown, already the second longest in U.S. history, has no end in sight. Trump’s announcement came as he traveled to the border city of McAllen, Texas, to make his case for a border wall. Hours earlier on Thursday, Trump said his trip to Davos later this month was still on. But the president also opened the door to the possibility that he could forgo the trip if the partial government shutdown continued.”
