ETHICS: “Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub said Thursday [7-6-17] he plans to resign later this month, ending a tenure that in recent months was marked by frequent tangles with the Trump administration.
‘The great privilege and honor of my career has been to lead OGE’s staff and the community of ethics officials in the federal executive branch,’ Mr. Shaub wrote in a letter to the president that the director posted to his Twitter account. ‘They are committed to protecting the principle that public service is a public trust, requiring employees to place loyalty to the Constitution, the laws, and ethical principles above private gain.’
Mr. Shaub said he would resign on July 19, six months before his term was set to conclude. He will join the Campaign Legal Center as senior director of ethics, according to the group, which advocates for transparency and ethics in government.”
